We are seeking a hands-on and strategic Service Manager to lead the maintenance and repair operations for our marine and heavy construction equipment. This role is critical to ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting safe, efficient field operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical knowledge, and planning skills to manage mechanic teams, schedule field service, oversee preventive maintenance, and drive continuous improvement.
Service Manager Key Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day maintenance and repair of marine and heavy construction equipment to ensure maximum uptime.
- Manage the HCSS 360 work order system, preventive maintenance schedules, and accurate service documentation.
- Coordinate with field teams to prioritize service needs and align schedules with project demands.
- Supervise shop and field mechanics; provide coaching, training, and performance feedback.
- Conduct safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA, company policies, and environmental standards.
- Troubleshoot complex equipment issues and provide technical support as needed.
- Oversee parts inventory and work with procurement to ensure cost-effective supply.
- Track maintenance costs, labor, and materials; assist with budget planning and cost control.
- Build vendor relationships and negotiate service and parts contracts.
- Collaborate with field leadership and internal departments to align service operations with company goals.
- Support recruiting, onboarding, and development of service team personnel.
- Foster a strong safety and accountability culture within the team.
Service Manager Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications a plus
- 5 years of experience in diesel, marine, or heavy equipment maintenance preferred
- 5–7 years of supervisory or service management experience, ideally in construction or heavy equipment
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in diagnostics and repairs
- Proficiency in HCSS 360, Microsoft Excel, Word, and email systems
- Proven leadership, team development, and communication skills
- Strong time management, organization, and decision-making abilities
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices
