What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Manager - Residential Construction position at J.F. Shea Family of Companies?
LOCATION: WEST VALLEY
A Field Manager will focus on developing leadership, communication, service, coaching, organization, quality management, safety, and follow-up skills. Informal and formal training will be used as a resource to assist in developing and executing each of these skills sets.
A Project Superintendent must have experience as a Finish Superintendent in residential home construction and must be able to apply the following:
• To set the pace for community team through demonstration of leadership skills.
o Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize responsibilities in order to consistently meet deadlines.
o Hold team members accountable to meet their commitments to each other, trades, and customers.
o Verify that team members are following the guidelines of the Shea field dress code.
o Verify that PTO forms are filled out and turned in for sick days taken by team members.
o Exhibit use of The 7 Habits principles in daily interaction with trades and fellow team members.
o Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with trades, internal customers, and inspectors.
o Update Build Pro scheduling daily.
o Meet with community sales team to go over paperwork.
• Demonstrate quality management mindset in performing all responsibilities of the job.
o Review and verify correctness of contracts, addendas, and sketches with sales and sign off when information is complete and accurate to finish home.
o Verify that homesite is ready for home layout one to two weeks before start goes to field (QPR #1).
o Perform QPR inspections at each QPR check point (QA#1 to #5) as they are completed (e.g., home layout, concrete pre-pour, post-pour, frame layout, frame complete, and pre-drywall) (focus on trades completing each task and meeting quality level per quality standards and proceeds).
o Develop and train Finish Superintendents (Level #3) in how to perform front-end responsibilities at each of these check points.
o Focus on job site cleanliness – homes, trash in yards or street, and trash bins emptied regularly.
• Demonstrate understanding and implementation of the Shea Homes culture.
o Incorporate Shea Absolutes.
o Apply the Shea Homes Vision, Business Drivers, and Values in all areas of your job.
• Manage assigned responsibilities of team members to meet customer satisfaction and quality assurance goals of community.
o Lead by example in maintaining effective relations and communications with customers.
o Provide > 90% Zero Item Deliveries.
o Achieve Shea Homes cycle time goal for series of home on your community (tolerance or- 5%) trench to home complete.
o Receive 90% or higher under construction member category on survey.
o Achieve goals from current business model on Net Promoter Score and Satisfaction Index.
o Walk all homes using the applicable QPR checklist.
• Manage community purchase order process by learning to control and reduce cost associated with site and home cleanness, trade damage, and general rework.
• Keep dust control and SWPPPs logs up-to-date (ComplianceGo).
• Facilitate monthly sales/construction meetings as part of rotation.

• Required to walk one plus miles per day on uneven ground
• Will be exposed to weather such as heat, cold, rain, and possibly snow
• Noise level can be unusually loud
• May need to carry ladders and warranty tile up to 60 pounds for 100 feet
