Tech Specialist - Application (Landscape)

Job Scope

The Tech Specialist is responsible for monitoring overall ornamental landscape quality and maintenance including  planting, pruning and weeding of trees, shrubs and flowers. Painting, cleaning and repair of  District signage and facilities.  Application of  herbicides and/or  insecticides as directed. The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $27.50/hour and the Tech Specialist/Applications (Landscape) is also eligible to participate in the snow incentive program and discretionary annual bonus plan. Job Duties

• Daily property inspection

• Participate in the annual flower planning and bed design

• Bed preparation and annual planting

• Shrub, perennial and tree removal and replacement

• Purchase and/or order plant material for replacements or special projects

• Cleaning and painting of district facilities

• Supervises seasonal labor or landscape techs as assigned

• Participates in the snow removal program

• Herbicide applications including accurate record keeping

• Helps insure proper housekeeping of pesticide storage facility

• Active participation in company-wide safety program

• Performs other activities and oversee special projects as assigned

Technical/Professional Knowledge (Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience)

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have valid Colorado driver’s license.
• Must have at least three years of progressively responsible landscape experience specializing in tree, shrub, flower care.
• Landscape industry certified designation or similar certification is highly desirable.

Work Environment

The Tech Specialist’s schedule varies depending on the weather.  Hours are usually scheduled from 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  The position is required to work weekends (Sat/Sun) or late at night if there are heavy snow falls or emergencies.  However, the Tech Specialist should be flexible with availability depending on the needs of the customers.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, squat and lift objects.  May be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Must be able to drive during the course of work.
