Job Description And Qualifications

Recognized as one of 2024’s Best Places to Work in Baton Rouge, J H Operating Company, LLC, an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction firm supporting the upstream and midstream oil and gas industry, has an opening at our office in Baton Rouge for an E&I Designer I.

This is an entry-level position ideal for recent graduates or individuals with 0–2 years of experience. You will work closely with experienced engineers and designers to develop technical solutions for oil and gas projects.

The position will report to James Prosser, Design Supervisor.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Assist in creating and modifying electrical and instrumentation designs using CAD software.
• Develop single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
• Collaborate with senior designers and engineers to produce construction and design drawings.
• Support the selection of instrumentation and control devices for various projects.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
• Participate in site visits and data collection as needed.
• Maintain organized project files and documentation.
  
  

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Design, Drafting, or a related field; Bachelor's degree is a plus.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software; knowledge of 3D modeling is an advantage.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Eager to learn and grow in the oil and gas industry.
• Willingness to travel to project sites occasionally.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle multiple projects while maintaining high-quality results.
  
  

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

• Ability to perform site walk-downs, which may involve climbing stairs and ladders to reach elevated platforms.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Overtime may be necessary as workload dictates. This may include weekdays, weekends, and/or holidays.
