As a Dog Walker, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of dogs while providing them with exercise, companionship, and attention during their walks.
Responsibilities
- Walk dogs of various sizes and breeds, ensuring they receive adequate exercise and stimulation.
- Monitor the behavior and health of dogs during walks, reporting any concerns to pet owners.
- Maintain control of dogs at all times, using appropriate handling techniques to ensure safety.
- Provide basic training commands to dogs as needed to reinforce good behavior.
- Clean up after dogs during walks, adhering to local regulations regarding pet waste disposal.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their dog’s behavior and needs.
- Assist with additional animal care tasks such as feeding or administering medication if required.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in animal handling or care, including dog training or pet sitting.
- Knowledge of veterinary practices is a plus, particularly for those with a background as a veterinary technician.
- Strong customer service skills to effectively interact with pet owners and address their concerns.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed (e.g., lifting large dogs or carrying supplies).
- A genuine love for animals and commitment to their well-being is essential.
- Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate varying client needs, including potential early morning or evening walks.
