Mechanical Inspector/ Full Time Mon-Fri 7-4
The J&J Machine Company is a 15-person precision CNC machine shop that
produces prototypes and small-lot production runs. We perform milling, turning,
3D printing and laser engraving. We are ISO 9001 and 13485 certified, ITAR
registered, and becoming AS9100 certified. We have a steady backlog of
aerospace, medical, R&D, and commercial work.
In 2022, J&J Machine was named the Massachusetts Small Manufacturer of the
Year. In 2023 we won a Massachusetts MMAP grant to help purchase a new CMM
and 5-axis milling machine.

We have an immediate opening for a Mechanical Inspector who has experience
inspecting machined parts to tight tolerance and programming a Zeiss CMM with
Calypso software.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect parts to tight tolerances using a full range of inspection tools
- Perform first piece, in-process, and final inspections
- Verify incoming material documentation
- With the assistance of the Director of Quality, write FAI reports
- Help to maintain the quality log and provide input into CAPAs and PFMEAs
- Help to ensure adherence to our quality standards
- Represent the company as needed during external audits by registrars and
customers
- Help to maintain all inspection equipment and ensure that it is calibrated per
our schedule
- Communicate feedback to machinists and management about quality
performance
- Manage the MRB area
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
- Other responsibilities as required in a small-company environment
REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of three-years’ experience in a similar role inspecting complex prototype parts
- Must be able to program a Zeiss Contura CMM with Calypso software
- Must have an advanced understanding of blueprint reading including
geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Previous experience with ISO required
- Experience with 13485, and/or AS9100 a plus
- Must be able to take accurate measurements using a height gage, optical
comparator, micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, templates and thread gauges is
required.
- Strong shop math skills required
- Must be proficient with Excel
- Must be able to communicate effectively in person, on the phone, and via email
with employees, vendors, and customers
- Must be willing to work 7AM to 4PM and able to work some overtime
depending on the needs of the customer
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Must be hands-on and willing to do whatever is required to ensure the
company’s growth, and able to thrive in a small-company environment
- Must have a positive, professional attitude and a growth mindset
- US citizenship required
