Summary: This position is responsible for optimizing production schedules, coordinating material flow, and ensuring efficient manufacturing operations to meet customer requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, prepare, issue, and control production schedules and coordinate with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements.
- Plan, schedule, and maintain a sales plan while supporting the efficiency of the production schedule.
- Develop work orders based on end dates and maintain valid due dates in sales and capacity planning objectives.
- Coordinates material movement between warehouse/storeroom and production areas.
- Advises management of work status in process, loading, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed.
- Plans and organizes work for different work centers and staff, ensuring that material supplies meet demand. Prepares work orders and purchase requests to support the production and procurement of parts, aligning these activities with the master production schedule, workload, and inventory needs.
- Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, design studio, project coordinator, inventory control, traffic, and customer service schedules and expedites the movement of parts.
Planning:
- Manage daily production schedule reports to provide current information for production teams and support effective meeting discussions.
- Ensure the production plan, including sub-assemblies, aligns with customer requirements and ship dates by reviewing material availability and production capacity.
- Review and optimize work orders and plans to maximize production efficiency for each work center.
Scheduling:
- Schedule various manufactured components within the MRP system based on ship dates.
- Create work orders, identify missing materials or parts, and review established capacity.
- Review the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to process and make necessary adjustments, along with associated work orders.
- Print and distribute work orders to various work centers, including Ink, Print, Lamination, and Tubing.
- Verify any changes or revisions to Bills of Materials to ensure the accuracy of work orders.
Expediting:
- Monitor production schedule for missing/delayed production orders.
- Work with manufacturing managers and production staff to locate and expedite urgent jobs.
- Review non-conformances and create replacement work orders based on capacity and efficiency per work center.
- Coordinate and communicate purchased part needs with the Purchasing department.
General:
- Coordinate and communicate across various work centers to understand and develop current and forecasted plans.
- Utilize manufacturing data/reports to drive key insights into efficiency, production rate, and other performance metrics.
- Produce reports that evaluate plant capacity and identify areas needing improvement.
- Recommend process and equipment improvements to optimize production capabilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience/education. APICS certification preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Operations, Inventory Control, or Buyer/Planner Purchasing is required.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of materials control/production planning is required.
- Manufacturing systems planning knowledge, and MRP system experience is required.
- Requires strong organizational/time management skills and ability to pay close attention to detail and effectively handle multiple priorities.
- Must have strong analytical skills, identify options, and implement effective solutions quickly and efficiently.
- Must have effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively across all levels.
- Must be an effective listener to maintain focus, extract necessary information, and validate understanding.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
