Laboratory Technician

Our client, Hero BX, currently has a need for an entry-level Laboratory Technician to assist in the production of biodiesel by performing both wet and analytical chemistry techniques for a variety of analytical purposes as well as to maintain BQ-9000 status. Safety and a positive working environment are top job & company priorities. 

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor product quality to ensure compliance to standards and specifications.
  • Compile and interpret results of tests and analyses.
  • Prepare chemical solutions for products and processes following standardized formulas or create experimental formulas.
  • Maintain, clean, and sterilize laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Write technical reports or prepare graphs and charts to document experimental results.
  • Conduct programs of sampling and analysis to maintain quality standards of raw material, chemical intermediates, and products.
  • Train personnel on laboratory procedures.
  • Perform applied chemistry research to develop new or improved methods, techniques, and procedures for laboratory analysis.
Education & Experience Requirements: 
  • Education – High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED). Bachelors in Chemistry or related degree preferred
  • Experience – Six Months to one year related lab experience.

  • Chemistry — Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
  • English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Mathematics — Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.\
  • Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
SKILLS
  • Science — Using scientific rules and methods to solve problems.
  • Reading Comprehension — Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  • Quality Control Analysis — Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Mathematics — Using mathematics to solve problems.
  • Operation Monitoring — Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Time Management — Managing one's own time and the time of others.
  • Writing — Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Active Learning — Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.

  • Physical — The ability to lift up to 30 lbs. The ability to work in a standing stationary position for long periods.
