JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a compassionate, highly-skilled, and experienced Residential Treatment Director who wants to be a part of creating a new way to deliver residential care. The Residential Treatment Director is responsible for the overall management and direction of the organization's treatment program, ensuring the effective delivery of therapeutic interventions to all children receiving treatment services. This role encompasses clinical oversight, program development, and compliance with regulatory standards as outlined by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, and overseeing the well-being of children in our care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Oversight and Management:
- Assume overall responsibility for the treatment program, including the clinical management of therapeutic interventions.
- Provide direction and leadership to the treatment team, ensuring cohesive and effective service delivery.
Therapeutic Intervention Supervision:
- Lead the multidisciplinary treatment team to develop individualized treatment plans for each child in care, ensuring that they receive appropriate therapeutic, educational, and medical services. Facilitate effective communication regarding treatment strategies.
- Ensure that all therapeutic interventions are evidence-based or promising practice and tailored to meet the unique needs of each child.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that the treatment program complies with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Implement continuous quality improvement processes to enhance treatment outcomes at the program level and individual child level.
Staff Development and Supervision:
- Provide clinical supervision, training, and support to treatment care staff, including contracted team members, such as: therapists, behavioral skills specialists, etc.).
- Assist Residential Administrator to supervise, train, support, and evaluate direct care staff.
- Foster a collaborative, supportive, and growth-oriented environment for all team members.
Family and Community Engagement:
- Collaborate with families and community resources to support the holistic well-being of children in care.
- Facilitate effective communication between the treatment team, families, managing conservator, and external stakeholders.
Professional Level Services:
- Advocate for each child as you would your own.
- Conduct thorough admission assessments and evaluations to determine appropriate services for each child.
- Develop, review, and update individualized service plans tailored to each child's unique needs.
- Prepare comprehensive discharge or transfer summaries, ensuring a smooth transition for children exiting the program.
- Evaluate, approve, and monitor restrictions imposed on any child to ensure all imposed restrictions are necessary, appropriate, and regularly reassessed.
- Coordinate with external agencies and support services to facilitate continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate records of child progress and other relevant data in compliance with licensing and credentialing requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
- Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, or a related field with completion of nine credit hours in graduate-level courses focusing on family and individual function and interaction.
- Licensed master social worker, licensed clinical social worker, licensed professional counselor, or licensed marriage and family therapist.
- Three years of experience providing treatment services for children with emotional disorders.
- At least one year of documented full-time work experience in a treatment setting serving children, such as residential treatment centers, child-placing agencies providing treatment services, or psychiatric hospitals serving children.
- Experience working with children in foster care, including those with significant trauma histories, behavioral challenges, or mental health needs.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of foster care systems, child development, trauma-informed care, and family dynamics.
- Proven experience in managing and supervising staff with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a diverse team.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices and an ability to implement them in a residential setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with children, staff, families, external stakeholders, and within a multidisciplinary team..
- Strong organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and integrity.
- Efficient computer literacy with experience in standard office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with Community Based Care and T3C is a plus.
- Experience with electronic management systems for case management, billing, and reporting is a plus.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment.
- Must pass background checks, including FBI fingerprints, and drug screening as required by state law and organizational policies.
- Valid Texas driver’s license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance.
- Pass a tuberculosis (tb) skin text.
SCHEDULE
This position requires the individual to work within the residential treatment facility and may include evening or weekend hours depending on the needs of the children in care. The Residential Treatment Director will be expected to participate in on-call rotations and handle emergency situations as they arise.
