Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Dean of Enrollment Services at Reynolds Community College provides visionary leadership and strategic direction for all aspects of the college’s enrollment services.
Reporting to the Vice President of Student Affairs, this role oversees Admissions, Financial Aid, Academic Advising and Transfer Services, and Information Services, ensuring these areas work collaboratively to deliver cohesive and highly intuitive student-centered experience.
The Dean plays a pivotal role in streamlining enrollment operations to optimize access, promote equity, and foster measurable student success outcomes. This position requires close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to align enrollment services with the college’s mission, strategic goals, and community needs. By developing and implementing innovative strategies and policies, the Dean advances institutional objectives and ensures that the enrollment services division remains responsive to the dynamic needs of students and the broader community.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership to Admissions, Financial Aid, Academic Advising and Transfer Services, and Information Services, fostering collaboration and alignment with institutional goals.
- Develop and implement comprehensive enrollment management plans that enhance access, retention, and student success to aid in providing a seamless, holistic, and highly intuitive experience for our new and returning students?
- Oversee the development, execution, and evaluation of policies and procedures to streamline enrollment processes and improve the student experience.
- Collaborate with the dual enrollment program to support enrollment efforts and ensure seamless processes for high school students transitioning.
- Analyze enrollment trends and data to inform decision-making and create actionable plans that drive student recruitment, persistence, and graduation rates.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including academic divisions, community organizations, and secondary education partners, to develop pathways that support student access and success.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations related to admissions, financial aid, and student services.
- Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively to support strategic goals and operational efficiency.
- Provide professional development opportunities and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability among staff.
- Serve as a key advocate for equity and inclusion in all aspects of enrollment services, ensuring that diverse student populations are supported and barriers to access are minimized.
- Represent the college at local, regional, and national meetings and conferences related to enrollment management.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in enrollment management, student affairs, or related areas.
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning, policy development, and implementing enrollment initiatives that drive student success.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using data to inform decision-making and improve outcomes.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing financial aid, admissions, advising and other student services.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting the success of diverse student populations.
Additional Considerations
- Doctorate degree in higher education administration, student affairs, or a related field.
- Experience leading large-scale enrollment initiatives in a community college setting.
- Demonstrated proficiency with enrollment technologies, such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, student information systems, and data analytics tools.
- Experience in fostering partnerships with secondary and postsecondary institutions, as well as community organizations.
- Knowledge of best practices in academic advising, transfer services, and student retention strategies.
- Proven track record of managing complex budgets and optimizing resource allocation.
