This Chambers rated, top tier firm, is seeking an experienced Construction and Design Associate to join their Seattle office. The firm represents a wide range of clients, including public and private owners, general contractors, engineers, and developers across the construction and design industry. This is an opportunity to work with industry leaders in construction law on complex, high stakes matters.
The Construction and Design Associate will play an integral role in representing clients in all stages of construction projects, from pre-project planning and risk assessment to contract drafting, claims management, and litigation of disputes. You will have the opportunity to work on high-profile projects, overseeing a variety of matters that require both legal expertise and practical knowledge of the construction industry.
The Associate will also manage complex construction litigation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) matters, including arbitration and mediation; Work closely with clients to develop strategies for managing project risks and avoiding disputes; Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to draft motions, pleadings, and discovery documents. This Associate will draft and review construction contracts, including design-build, general contractor, and subcontractor agreements, and will assist clients with risk assessment and pre-project planning to ensure legal compliance and minimize exposure.
A minimum of 2-to-3 years of experience in large scale construction law, including drafting contracts, claims management, and handling disputes, required. Strong understanding of construction industry standards, project management, and risk mitigation required. Experience representing public and private owners, general contractors, or engineers preferred. Excellent research, writing, and communication skills required. J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in Washington State required. Compensation includes salary ($205K-$235K) plus robust and attainable bonus and benefits package.
