What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Shop Foreman position at Jack Doheny Company?
Position Objective:
To schedule and oversee efficient shop workflow of maintenance work on trucks and equipment according to the daily needs of the business by working alongside each of our technicians to assist and develop their skills.
Job Responsibilities:
- Experience with hydraulic and electrical systems (including electrical schematic) must be able to repair and troubleshoot
- Repair and troubleshoot class 8 and class 7 trucks along with the Vacuum Module System
- Oversee preventative maintenance on vacuum trucks, tractors and trailers
- Complete annual inspections on trucks and trailers.
- Proficient with computer systems diagnostic equipment
- Program engine computers (Cummins, Detroit, Paccar etc.).
- Perform new truck inspection and run ups in addition will also handle the sale truck inspection run ups
- Must be able to weld, cut and fabricate all types of trucks and machinery
- Able to operate all types of testing devices, as well as all shop machinery
- Assist in teaching employee’s when required, will also train customers on all equipment
- Ensure all technician labor/time sheets are completed
- Coordinate with service writer to schedule the workflow to coincide with branch goals for accuracy and efficiency
- Provide timely updates to internal and external customers of work progress
- Hold meetings with technicians to go over projects and department goals
- Assist in maintaining all safety practices in the shop.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Manual dexterity skills
- CDL helpful but not required
- Knowledge of shop mathematics, precision tools and special skills as required
- Supervisory / Teaching ability
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more infrequently
- Ten years’ experience on Class 7/8 trucks or 3 years’ experience repairing vacuum modules or completion of the Vactor CBT Training course, completion of Cummins training, completion of hydraulic training course, completion of Detroit diesel course and two year’s vacuum module experience or ASE master certification
- Complete set of hand tools to complete all work required
- Will stand, stoop, crouch, bend and climb short ladders repeatedly throughout the day
- Experience with machinery and equipment

The individual in this position will interact regularly with employees and managers in other departments and locations at Jack Doheny Companies Inc. Receiving and reacting to directions other than from your immediate supervisor will be required periodically.
