Summary :

The Payroll Administrator i s responsible to accurately and efficiently process payrolls for the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Compiles payroll data such as garnishments, hours worked; sales volume, bonuses, and commissions; monies to be withheld for taxes; employee contributions to insurance and retirement plans; etc., from time sheets and other records.
  • Updates HRIS records by verifying and recording changes affecting net wages such as federal and state tax exemptions, insurance coverage, etc., and data concerning compensation increases, promotions and / or transfer of employees between departments. Also updates employee personal information as needed.
  • Computes wages and deductions, reviews for accuracy and posts to payroll records.
  • Records payroll batches and month end payroll accruals i n General Ledger.
  • Prepares and issues paychecks.
  • Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
  • Handles all Regulatory and Compliance Reporting, such as Payroll tax returns, W2's, and ACA reporting.
  • Prepares / files all hiring and termination paperwork including COBRA letters.
  • Tracks employee time off. Prepares and posts accrual for PTO in the General Ledger.
  • Responds to employment verifications and other agency inquiries.
  • Processes the following in coordination with the Human Resource Manager :

Employee insurance forms and insurance payments

  • Employee benefit enrollment forms for newly eligible, life events, terminations
  • Investigate and respond to unemployment notices
  • Review and reconcile employee benefit bills (health, vision, dental, STD,LTD, Life) and post to General Ledger after approval by the HR manager.
  • Understands employee payroll issues, and communicates solutions effectively, professionally, and respectfully.
  • Maintains professional appearance, neat work area and maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
  • Qualifications :

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and / or training.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel and Sheets)
  • Work Environment :

    The Payroll Administrator works at a desk in an office setting for most of the shift. S / he will spend the day analyzing dealership records, various forms of paperwork, data entry and speaking on the phone.
