What are the responsibilities and job description for the PBX Operator Full Time position at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital?
Shift: 8:30AM - 5:00PM Mon-Fri
Position Goal:
To represent JHMH on all incoming calls to the main hospital switchboard in a professional manner while providing great customer service.
Position Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of patient inquiries through computer, able to direct and provide assistance to patients, visitors, physicians offices, and other hospital departments.
- Answers telephone appropriately and route calls according to request.
- Maintains a current hospital census, using computer application correctly to order reports.
- Performs general clerical duties as required, including but not limited to duties specified by Manager.
- Assists and takes initiative in handling issues of non-routing nature and performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains a professional demeanor and communicates in a calm caring manner and presentation.
- Knowledgeable of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).
- Knowledgeable of procedures governing the arrival of Joint Commission and other groups.
- Knows all codes and alarms.
- Responsible for making sure the Supervisor has the most up to date contact information.
Experience:
- Previous office experience preferred in a healthcare environment preferred.
- Experience with multi-line phone system preferred.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
Special Qualifications:
- Ability to use Microsoft Office and other software packages.
- Excellent typing skills and phone etiquette.
- Must have excellent Customer Service Skills as well as verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
