Job Description
Summary:
The Senior Team Leader is responsible for the day-to-day production within Secondary Manufacturing. Supervises, motivates, and supports Team Members, applying a team approach and maintaining open communication. Plans, schedules, strategizes and oversees all production activities. Responsible for the effective and efficient planning and scheduling of personnel and equipment to reduce bottlenecks and problems.

- Identifies, through a proactive approach, potential cost-saving and efficiency gain opportunities to improve overall operations.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining a high level employee morale and dedication to serving customers.
- Assists with hiring and termination decisions.
- Initiate disciplinary measures according to company policy when needed and dismiss production employees when all corrective attempts have failed.
- Initiate hiring when needed to cover expanding workload or for replacement of substandard Team Members
- Supervise the Production Team to produce and prioritize jobs and, when necessary, reorganize to meet deadline changes and updates.
- Take all necessary actions to manage production costs and improve efficiencies.
- Communicates effectively with the Operations Manager and Production Team, informing and updating regularly to guarantee production and customer objectives are met.
- Maintains a safe and healthy working environment in accordance with all Company Safety, USDA and OSHA regulations.
- Drives safety, quality and productivity to ensure goals are met
- Approves direct reports time off requests
- Conducts formal performance reviews per company policy.
- Participates in Safety Committee.
- Follows system and procedures outlined in the company manuals. Ensures Company policies and procedures are followed
- Meet all assigned goals and assist others in accomplishing their goals.
- Meet all customer commitments through the production of timely, efficient and high quality products and service.
- Schedule, plan and conduct Morning afternoon production meetings.
- Oversees all staff scheduling and overtime.
- Ensures completion of production schedules with minimum waste.
- Ensures employee safety training is conducted as required by Company Policy.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Understands LEAN Principles. LEAN Six Sigma Greenbelt Certified Preferred.
- Knowledge of distribution center models and logistics processes
- Thorough understanding of safety rules and regulations as well as OSHA standards
- Ability to communicate professionally with people both inside and outside the organization
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and power point software
- Familiarity with team building techniques
- Have working knowledge of operations including an automated workflow system
Experience and Education
- High school diploma or GED required, college degree preferred.
- 5 years experience in production, 3 years production management experience preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
