Founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1963 by Jack L. Tyler, P.E., Jack Tyler Engineering, Inc exists to serve its customers by providing engineered technical solutions to customers' problems. Jack Tyler Engineering exists to serve two main purposes:
- We sell and service the equipment that is required to provide clean water to the communities where we live and work. Everyone deserves clean water, and we strive to make sure there is an ample supply. Our equipment collects, treats, and distributes water and wastewater.
- We sell and service the rotating equipment that is required to keep manufacturing plants up and running in Arkansas and surrounding states. When plants close due to unplanned maintenance and downtime, it can cripple an organization and a community.
The specific equipment that we sell and service from our three Arkansas locations includes pumps and pump systems, compressed air systems, valves, actuators, mechanical seals, controls, water treatment equipment, wastewater treatment equipment, and water storage tanks.
If you are an organized and detail-oriented individual who likes to supervise, track, and evaluate day to day accounting activities, you may be the person we need to join our team as a Controller. This critical role in our ensures that the accounting team and accounting processes produce accurate and timely accounting reporting that can be relied upon by management to understand the current financial results of the organization. The ideal candidate must have a degree in Accounting and have significant experience with project or cost accounting.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Take a key role driving the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting compliant with all regulations and governing credit facility agreements, while continuously working to reduce speed to close
- Leverage accounting software system to provide accurate meaningful data to be used by management to make sound business decisions
- Produce timely, accurate, and complete balance sheet account reconciliations
- Identify and implement efficiency improvements
- Complete annual 1099s.
- Ensure accurate accounting and timely compliance for all Federal, State and local income taxes in conjunction with our outside tax advisors. (estimates, filings, etc)
- Partner with HR Team to perform final payroll approval and record proper accounting entries for payroll, payroll taxes and benefits
- Estimate, manage, and record expense accruals and prepaid accounts
- Oversee all Sales & Use tax processes to ensure accurate and timely payments, filings and compliance
- Protect and ensure confidentiality of all information
- Manage daily bank reconciliations
- Generate and review daily sales report
- Handle construction company financials
- Manage and hold accountable the Accounting team to ensure all tasks are completed timely and accurately
- Track assets and depreciation
- Thoroughly document Accounting practices and procedures
Skills and Qualifications
- 4 years of accounting experience in the accounting field
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- Prior experience and accountability for the following (preferred):
- Monthly Close Process
- Annual Audit
- State, local and Sales Tax and Audit
- Cash accounting, bank reconciliation, and banking services
- Credit, Collections, A/R & Allowance for Doubtful Accounts
- Payroll & benefits processing, accounting and related accruals
- Prepaid asset accounting
- Accrued liability accounting
- Sales & use tax compliance and audits
- Book to tax adjustments for federal income taxes
- Strong degree of professionalism and executive presence
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office products with an emphasis on strong Excel skills
- Experience with Sage 100 software is a preferred
- Experience that includes the responsibility for publishing month-end close and financial statements
- Experience executing journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals
- Demonstrated high ethical and professional standards
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
