What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Specialist position at Jacko Logistics?
Jacko Logistics is seeking a dedicated and experienced Accounting Specialist to join our team in Vancouver, WA. We are looking for someone who is an expert problem solver, has amazing communication skills, and is willing to go above and beyond for their team. You will be working closely with both A/R and A/P while also being responsible for general accounting tasks. We are a fast pace company, growing at a rapid pace, we need someone who is eager to join a team of motivated individuals who strive for the best!
Responsibilities:
- General administrative tasks (we are a small team and everyone pitches in with the basic tasks - you cannot be 'above' any administrative task)
- Entering accounts payable vouchers daily with extreme detail
- Assisting our accounts receivable department with collection efforts and researching outstanding invoices
- Learn the ins and outs of the accounting portion of our software system - you should be eager to jump in and learn a new system and master it in order to know where to look for discrepancies during our month end close and also while assisting with collections
- Work closely with our operations team to ensure data is being entered correctly in order to flow properly over to the accounting side
- Collaborate with A/R, A/P, payroll, and our operations team on a daily basis
- Compiling and preparing financial statements, such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to provide insight into the company's financial performance.
- Export data from our software system into a Google Sheet and format it with advanced formulas and pivot tables in order to analyze and reconcile data (THIS IS A MUST! - do not overstate your spreadsheet knowledge as you will be tested during the interview process)
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a similar role (bonus if it's been within the trucking or transportation industry)
- Proficiency in Accounting Software
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively interact with drivers, customers, and internal teams
- A strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards is essential. This includes knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable industry-specific regulations.
- Proficiency in fleet management software preferred but not required
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure
- A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or a related field is preferred
- Understanding of the trucking industry, including its specific operational and financial requirements, can be advantageous.
