Jackpot Veterinary Center is looking for a dependable, hardworking, and experienced Small Animal Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team.
We are a private, veterinarian owned and operated hospital with a focus on quality care for our patients and quality of life for our staff. We are a fast-paced, progressive animal hospital with both a large and small animal clinic on our beautiful property located in northwest Tucson.
Our modern practice has been outfitted with all the latest technology, including: digital radiography, digital dental radiography, in-house Idexx CBC/Chem analyzers, ultrasound, class IV laser, tonopen, Behr huggers, and more! We are able to provide excellent care and services for our patients and are supported by an exceptional team of veterinarians, certified technicians, assistants, and receptionists. The ideal candidate will have exceptional skills, including
- Assisting with restraining and handling animals during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Utilizing Veterinary Practice Management software to accurately and comprehensively record client and patient information.
- Maintaining all appropriate facility records and logs in compliance with regulatory guidelines to include radiography, surgery, and laboratory logs.
- Monitoring animals before, during and after surgical procedures
- Performing laboratory tests, such as blood analysis
- Taking radiographs under the direction of the veterinarian.
- Collecting samples for diagnostic testing including blood
- Communicating with pet owners regarding their animal's health status, treatment plans, and preventive care.
- Educating clients on topics such as nutrition, parasite control, and dental care.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients.
- Entering medical notes, treatment plans, and diagnostic results into veterinary software systems.
- Cleaning and sanitizing examination rooms, surgical suites, and other areas of the facility.
- Admitting and discharging patients through in-person contact.
- Recognizing and responding to veterinary medical emergencies.
- Monitoring hospitalized patients and providing supportive care as directed by the veterinarian.
- Recognizing and responding to signs of pain, distress, or deterioration in patient condition.
- Demonstrating an understanding of interpersonal skills and team dynamics
- Upholding the highest standards of patient care, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
