What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispatcher- RTW position at Jackson Area Transportation Authority?

- Coordinate Rides to Wellness efforts related to understanding, researching, solving, and responding to customers with specialized mobility needs.
- Coordinate transportation services among multiple service providers and funding agencies to assist customers with specialized transportation needs.
- Develop person-center transportation plans to match a customer's unique travel needs with existing community/ regional resources.
- Coordinate transportation information requests and transportation service referrals using the Jackson Care Hub.
Handle all aspects of determining eligibility of customers. - Answer Rides to Wellness phones and/or respond to emails to assist the public and other agencies in matters relating to the program.
- Must possess knowledge of the city of Jackson and the Jackson County area.
- Perform other such duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Applicants must possess a high school diploma at a minimum, with an associate degree preferred but not required. Candidates should have a strong focus and knowledge in social work, human services, or a related field, along with 1 to 2 years of experience in customer service, training, or educational outreach. Experience working with older adults and/or individuals with disabilities is essential. A valid Michigan Driver's License is required, and candidates must successfully pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical and drug screen, as well as a criminal background and reference check.

· Methods and techniques of public relations.
· Advanced principles, practices, and procedures of grant development.
· Federal grants and Federal Transit Administration requirements and Federal Transit Administrations’ grants management system (TEAM System).
· Regional and metropolitan transportation planning process.
·Regional and State Transportation Improvement Program process and schedule.
·The political and policy arena of the Jackson Area Transportation Authority and JATA’s role in the region.
·Research and analysis on specific political and technical issues related to transportation policy and project development.
· Analysis of media dynamics and understanding of the role news media plays in public policy.
· Managing a complex set of projects and issues.
· Ability to produce high quality work in a timely way and to work on several projects simultaneously; and strong interpersonal skills required and ability to work cooperatively with other JATA staff and diverse groups and individuals.
· Principles of business letter writing and basic report preparation.
· English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
· Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and statistical databases.
Required Skill in:
·Utilizing personal computer software programs affecting assigned work and in compiling and preparing spreadsheets and reports.
·Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other department staff, management, vendors, outside agencies, and the general public.
·Having the willingness to take initiative in the absence of clear direction, and ability to juggle multiple tasks.
