What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinic Coder I position at Jackson County Memorial Hospital?
Job Summary: The Clinic Coder I has responsibilities to review the encounter form and hospital charge documentation to determine diagnostic codes for billing purposes. Accurately sequences codes according to AHIMA Official Outpatient Coding guidelines. Ensures records are coded in an accurate and timely manner.
Education/Regulatory Requirements & Experience: High School Diploma, Advance Degree (or equivalent) or pursuit of advance degree required. Bachelors Degree in Business Admin (or equivalent) is preferred. ICD-9-CM and CPT Coding experience required. Typing speed of 30-40 wpm required. Must be able to pass the “Clerical Ability Test” with 80% or better as given by the Human Resources Department. Clinic experience preferred. Previous work history that demonstrates steady attendance and punctuality is required.
