What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coder I - (HIM) position at Jackson County Memorial Hospital?
Job Summary: Reviews clinical outpatient records to assign diagnosis, procedures and modifier codes using 3M coding software. Accurately sequences codes according to departmental and AHIMA guidelines. Ensures records are coded in accurate and timely manner.
Education/Regulatory Requirements & Experience: One-year formal education beyond high school. Medical terminology preferred. Six months related experience in acute care facility. Must pass the Clerical Ability Test with an overall score of 80%. Must pass Coding Test with an overall 90%. Typing speed of 30 WPM. Previous work history that demonstrates steady attendance and punctuality is required. RHIA, RHIT, CCA,CCS, CCC-P, or COC credential preferred. This is NOT a remote position.
