Job Summary: Promotes and exemplifies the mission and goals of the Human Resources Department and Jackson County Memorial Hospital. The Vice President of Human Resources, under general supervision of the administrator and in cooperation with all department managers and supervisors, administers orientation, training activities, employee health, grievance handling and risk management.
Education/Regulatory Requirements & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required and a master’s degree in business administration/healthcare administration or other advanced degree is preferred.
- 3 to 5 years as the vice president (or number one position) of human resources in a healthcare provider organization. A minimum of ten years experience in human resources.
- Has thorough knowledge and understanding of human resource functions such as: compensation, wage and benefit design, employee recruitment and retention, training and development, EEOC compliance, as well as the rules and regulation relating to human resources.
- Has the ability to see the big picture and think strategically combined with an understanding of the details of day-to-day operations. The successful candidate will be an excellent planner who is ahead of the organization’s human resources needs at all times.
- Is a strong leader who can motivate staff, clearly articulate goals, objectives, and expectations and will be visible at all levels of the organization.
- Has a high degree of credibility and will be respected by the senior management team.
- Has a comfort level working with all levels of employees, regardless of status or position. Is approachable, accessible and proactive in establishing relationships.
- Goal-oriented, highly motivated and enjoys change and challenge.
- Has a strong customer focus and operates with a positive “can-do” philosophy.
- Understands the importance of communication and the consistency of messages conveyed to the employees.
- Has the highest level of honesty and integrity.
- Previous work history that demonstrates steady attendance and punctuality is required.
