JOB
The PC/Network Specialist performs a variety of technical work in the development, installation, and maintenance of the County network and telecommunications systems; and provides technical assistance and leadership to departments in the delivery of information technology solutions.The PC/Network Specialist is responsible for the quality and timeliness of their own work. Work is performed independently under general supervision.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Provides technical assistance and troubleshooting to end users of technology equipment and software.Trains end users on the use and care of technology equipment and software;Supports the operations of the County AS/400 systems including data backups, user administration.Follows through on user reported problems to assure timely resolution.Documents system problems and resolutions in department database.Installs, replaces, and/or repairs PC and Network hardware and software. Performs repairs to PCs as needed;Services, replaces or repairs peripherals, including and not limited to printers, copy machines, cameras, recording equipment, audio/visual, and other electronic equipment;Notifies supervisor if a system or components needs to be replaced;Works with vendors as needed to repair or replace PC or peripheral equipment when under warranty.Assists with various IS projects and tasks, including and not limited to: Operating system patching/upgrades, backup monitoring, website/software maintenance and user administrationEvaluates current system software/hardware and recommends changes to improve reliability, efficiency, and performance;Keeps abreast of new developments in technical areas (trends and technology) for possible application.Support and enforce security and use policies and procedures to ensure the integrity of all technology systems.Supports standards for the use and performance of software and hardware systems and ensures users follow all security best practices.Assists with developing IS policies and procedures.Performs general tasks related to department administration.Assists with inventory control and documentation of all computer hardware, software, and related equipment;Attends Information Systems related meetings as required.Performs Other Related Functions as Apparent or Assigned.
