What are the responsibilities and job description for the COURT/COLLECTIONS OFFICER position at Jackson County?
Working under the direction of a Court Services Manager, serves as a Court Officer, responsible for transporting prisoners to and from jail, attending arraignments and other court proceedings, serving as court bailiff as requested, serving bench warrants/making arrests, and providing general security for the court and staff. In the Collections capacity, reviews files and tickets on individuals delinquent in paying money owed to the Court, attempts to locate individuals and make payment arrangements. Monitors reports and initiates enforcement action when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, with some advanced coursework in law enforcement and criminal justice. Associates Degree in related area preferred.
Experience: Two to three years of experience in a court, police agency or other related area as a law enforcement officer or in a security capacity. Collections experience preferred.
Other Requirements: Valid Michigan Drivers’ License. Ability to be deputized. Ability to be certified in the following: Taser, Pepper Spray; LEIN, CEO recording, and PBT. MCOLES certification preferred.
FULL-TIME, AFSCME BARGAINING UNIT, PAY GRADE G
This is a non-exempt bargaining unit position with excellent benefits, including investment plan participation, paid time off accrual and paid holidays effective date of hire; health insurance benefits and use of accrued PTO effective following 90 calendar days of employment and successfully passing the probationary period.
