Position Summary::
Tests and repairs meters and instruments related to gas measurement and pressure regulation.
Criteria:
Education/Experience:
High school diploma (GED) with one year of Algebra. Preference given to candidates with one year of experience in a related field.
Skills/Abilities:
Good mechanical skills. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
Certifications/Licenses:
Must be able to pass required Operator Qualification requirements for position within six months.
Physical Demands:
The ability to lift, carry, and use heavy tools and materials. The ability to climb ladders and perform work from a ladder. The ability to use a computer keyboard effectively. The ability to safely operate a standard equipped company motor vehicle. The ability to orally communicate by phone and person to person. The ability to enter/exit 22" diameter access-ways and work in confined spaces. The ability to walk several miles per day over rough terrain. The ability to see/read money and/or other printed material.

Indoor/outdoor conditions. Risk of gas fire/explosion. Exposure to high voltage power. Exposure to wastewater. Subject to 24- hour callout.
Driving:
Must have and maintain a valid Tennessee Class “D” license.

Essential Functions:
- Reads seters and verifies correct pressure and temperature factors are being applied for accuracy. Reads industrial accounts and other key accounts as required at the end of the month for gas meters to ensure accurate billing of these customers.
- Calculates gas volume from meter charts and electronic correctors.
- Ensures compliance with CFR Title 49 Part 192 requirements for odorization of gas system by conducting odorant sampling and calculation of odorant injection rates required to achieve required odorant levels. Also rebuilds, refills, transfers, maintains odorizers as well as inventory requirements of odorant.
- Tests, repairs, paints, inspects, and adjusts all types and sizes of gas meters.
- Calibrates all electronic metering equipment and instrumentation used by gas operations.
- Tests and maintains ROCs, instruments, gauges and correcting devices used at gate stations, regulator stations, and industrial/transport customer sites.
- Performs tests, repairs, and adjustments to regulators and regulating equipment.
- Performs annual maintenance, inspection, and rebuilding/repair of gate stations, district regulator stations, and large industrial customer meter and regulator installations.
- Operates shop equipment, portable equipment and other tools and equipment necessary in testing, repairing, and adjusting meters, regulators, and other equipment.
- Installs & maintains RTUs, PLCs, ROCs, etc., and other equipment at gate and regulator stations as well as industrial customers.
- Conducts atmospheric corrosion surveys of all responsible equipment annually.
- Inspects, maintains, tests, and reads all meters associated with Texas gas farm taps and equipment monthly.
- Provides proper care of tools and equipment and maintains good housekeeping in meter shop.
- Maintains Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station equipment and adjusts, repairs, and replaces/rebuilds equipment when practical.
- Configures and supports AMI equipment and meters associated with Gas Itron ERTs and AMI system.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as requested.
