Summary

The Director of Wound Care will provide strategic and administrative leadership for wound healing services across the Jackson Health System (JHS). This role involves designing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive clinical, operational, and financial framework for wound care. The Director will collaborate with administrative leaders across multiple services to align with the JHS mission, strategic plan, and operational priorities.



Responsibilities

Leadership and Accountability

  • Oversee Wound Care Services programming across inpatient and ambulatory sites at JHS.
  • Directly manage and supervise the wound, ostomy, and continence RN team.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to provide expertise for inpatient and outpatient wound services.
  • Develop, monitor, and act upon clinical, financial, and operational metrics to enhance service delivery.
  • Research and maintain knowledge of the latest evidence-based wound healing advancements and disseminate information across the care team.
  • Analyze growth trends and revise programming to meet patient needs.
  • Collaborate with business and clinical leaders to develop business plans, impact analyses, workforce plans, and other tools to support program growth and success.


Administrative Leadership

  • Assess services, identify problems, and propose innovative solutions.
  • Engage staff and stakeholders in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Stay updated on new trends and best practices, incorporating them into programs.
  • Implement evidence-based standards for quality, safe, and cost-effective patient care.
  • Develop and monitor systems to improve staff and patient quality and safety.
  • Develop outcome measures for quality improvement, cost reduction, and evidence-based medicine implementation.
  • Manage interdepartmental and interdisciplinary relationships to ensure collaboration and efficient operations.
  • Promote the growth and development of Wound Healing Services, including partnerships, satellite sites, and telemedicine.


Financial and Resource Management

  • Identify and monitor opportunities for wound healing services in the market.
  • Establish annual financial goals and benchmark with high-performing systems.
  • Create and monitor an annual operating and capital budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
  • Allocate resources based on patient volume, space availability, and program priorities.
  • Research industry best practices and recommend process improvements.
  • Develop specialist referral contacts.


Education and Research

  • Facilitate and support research projects, protocol design, data collection, and analysis.
  • Engage with innovative wound and skin markets to improve patient outcomes and support the academic mission.
  • Oversee the development of patient educational materials related to wound healing services.



Experience

Generally, requires 7 to 10 years of related experience. Management experience is preferred.

Education

Master's Degree in Nursing is required, Advance Practice Registered Nurse is strongly preferred.

  • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. 
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs. 
  • Ability to establish goals and objectives. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.


Credentials

Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.
