Summary
- The Rehabilitation Interdisciplinary Education Coordinator works collaboratively to develop and implement educational programming for discipline specific clinical education and training for therapists, nurses, physicians, and administration.
- The Rehab Coordinator directs and integrates a culture of rehabilitation excellence by creating and leading developmental activities that will improve care by increasing staff knowledge of the 31 GGs (standardized patient assessment elements for therapy), BIMS (mental status interview), Bowel and Bladder programs, Case Mix Groups, the 60/40 rule, the 50% Medicare rule, IRF-PAI completion, PAS completion, UDS, and Nursing care.
- Designs, develops, teaches, evaluates, and documents clinical and non-clinical teaching and training programs improving patient safety and well being.
Responsibilities
- Develop staff in relation to CMS regulatory requirements.
- Provide rehabilitation education to all interdisciplinary team members including physical therapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, residents, neuro psychologists, patient care technicians, and administration.
- Develop staff regarding functional outcomes, GGs, BIMS, Bowel and Bladder program, cognitive education, ADLs, IRF-PAIs, PAS, and UDS.
- Prepare the team and the organization for CARF certification.
- Develop programs and materials as they relate to rehabilitation specific patients for paralysis, traumatic brain injury, stroke, comprehensives, amputations, joints, congenital deformity, major trauma, femur fractures, neurologic disorders, burns, arthritis, vasculidities, and joint replacement.
- Implement programs to meet staff development goals, objectives, competencies and outcomes by utilizing a variety of innovative and creative teaching strategies to meet individual and group learning needs.

- Synthesize, integrate and generate knowledge pertinent to physical therapy, nursing, physicians, techs, and administration education and practice.
- Utilize current research findings or evidence based practice in curriculum development following the evidence based model.
- Pursues research opportunities to enhance and/or maintain professional self-development and professional practice.
- Develop and implement PI programs to improve quality outcomes and metrics specific to the rehab setting.
- Develop and implement education and competencies that will equip the rehabilitation staff with the knowledge, skills, and attitude required to successfully care for rehab patients.
- Develop staff to apply rehabilitation theories to the practice of functional and cognitive care.

- Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
Experience
Generally requires 10 years of experience in physical therapy and 10 years of experience in nursing.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Therapy is preferred.
Credentials
Valid Florida RN license is required. CRRN Certification for rehabilitation nurses is required.
