We are seeking a motivated and organized Senior Scientist to join our highly collaborative Product Development group in West Grove, PA. The successful applicant will use their extensive scientific expertise to help guide strategic scientific decisions and commercialize new products through direct hands-on bench work, and by working with internal teams, external CROs and academic collaborators.
Position Summary:
Conceives of and develops new products and provides technical expertise to guide and execute R&D projects in the Product Development department.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conceives of and creates new products, designs experiments, analyzes data, interprets results, draws conclusions and works with the R&D team to advance Product Development goals.
- Completes regular literature and patent searches to solve research problems, design and optimize experiments and keep abreast of new technologies and research trends.
- Attends industry-related exhibits/conventions/trade shows and scientific meetings to identify new product ideas, collaborators and customers.
- Recommends, implements, supports and drives new technology initiatives.
- Executes the development, qualification, validation and continuous improvement of existing and new methods.
- Coordinates with and supports the technical needs of the Marketing Department.
- Provides technical support to customers as necessary.
- Reviews and contributes to technical documents and provides training and education to staff.
- Maintains organized notebooks and records for traceability and documentation.
- Embraces high standards of laboratory safety in compliance with applicable safety guidelines.
Education and Minimal/Preferred Experience Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Immunology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field with a minimum of 5 years post graduate experience.
- Experience in protein chemistry techniques including protein purification and conjugation, ultra/diafiltration, and chromatography purification using AKTAs or similar equipment.
- Experience in monoclonal antibody development and mammalian cell culture systems.
- Expertise in protein expression systems and processes.
- Experience with ELISA, Western Blot, IHC/ICC/IF, Flow Cytometry and SPR.
- Project management experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems, or similar, helpful.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and statistical analysis software (Graphpad Prism or similar).
- Excellent communication skills demonstrated by a track record of presenting results at scientific meetings and by publishing in scientific journals and/or inventorship on patents.
