The Pricing and Client Operations Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing both internal and client facing projects. The core responsibility of this role is to work with Attorney & Operations teams to ensure our pricing arrangements are actively managed in accordance with client guidelines and firm policies. This role will also assist in developing and management of alternative fee arrangements, and aid in other pricing initiatives.
The Pricing and Client Operations Manager is responsible for taking a lead role in developing and implementing strategies to improve our profitability, and enhance our relationships with our attorneys and clients. This role will collaborate closely with multiple business functions in the firm and has the opportunity to affect significant change in a high-profile role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
For New York, the expected salary range for this position is between $151,400 and $168,300. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Summarizes the financial impact of existing rate arrangements and develop and recommend revisions as agreements are renewed
- Ensures firm time and billing system data aligns with client eBilling platform requirements to streamline invoice submissions and minimize invoice rejections.
- Supports updates and revisions to existing rate arrangements, implement/apply finalized agreements and ensure that rates and other key matter data are properly assigned on an ongoing basis
- Serves as the initial/primary point of contact for assigned clients on rate, pricing and reporting issues and coordinate internal client reporting
- Reviews and summarizes client billing policies to determine the impact to ongoing matter management and the invoicing process. Assists with addressing invoice rejections and other billing-related issues.
- Develops strategies and tactics to optimize administration of client arrangement workflow including proactively managing client specific pricing and billing arrangements.
- Review matter opening details to ensure accuracy of our engagement letters and system setup.
- Responsible for handling attorney escalations and working with the attorneys directly to resolve billing issues and proactively mitigate potential problems.
- Work with designated team members across departments to develop/improve the billing and matter life cycle process. Analyzes eBilling platform rejection reasons and implements process improvements to prevent future occurrences.
- Work with partners, legal staff and relevant business services personnel to create and monitor scope documents, staffing plans and budgets. Also work with lawyers and staff to develop task codes and coordinate the implementation and utilization of those codes. Must be able to track and analyze actual engagement time and costs against budget, and help senior lawyers proactively address expected budget variances.
- Recommend and create reports to improve transparency to both the legal team and the client.
- Help identify and evaluate risks within each engagement and communicate appropriately to the partner.
- Plan and track timelines, milestones and dependencies.
- Effective at closely monitoring legal spend relative to budget and proactively intervening to help the legal team deliver results to expectations and on budget.
- Anticipates problems and issues and exercises independent judgment to make sound, justifiable decisions. Takes action in solving problems while knowing when and to whom to escalate issues.
- Delivers high quality, accurate and timely work product and results, and demonstrates the ability to follow through on agreed objectives.
- A Bachelor’s degree in business/finance, business administration or related field is required; an MBA, JD and/or graduate degree is preferred. 5-7 years related experience is required.
- Prior experience working with professional service firms (preferably law firms) or corporate legal departments.
- Demonstrated strong project management and leadership skills. Has experience in leading complex projects and implementing change in a large organization, as well as the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrates excellent understanding of law firm economics and financial management (e.g., pricing, budgeting). Displays strong analytical skills.
- Communicates effectively and collaboratively at all levels. Diplomatic and skilled at building rapport.
- Displays strong time management skills. Responds quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities. Able to work under tight deadlines, handle multiple detailed tasks simultaneously, prioritize appropriately and delegate to others where needed.
- Familiar with one or more e-billing platforms (Legal Tracker, CounselLink, Tymetrix, Collaborate, etc.)
- Experience using process mapping/planning techniques.
- Demonstrated experience in leading teams.
- Demonstrated creative problem-solving capabilities.
- Formal Pricing experience is a plus.
- Experience with Aderant and BillBlast a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerBI
