What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian/Maintenance position at Jacksonville Classical Academy?
Description
The porter will be responsible for the assigned shift`s custodial services and assisting the maintenance of the facilities in an educational setting. The porter will report to and work directly with the Facilities Manager.
Custodial Responsibilities
- Cleaning entrances, restrooms, staff break rooms, stairs, handrails, water fountains, play areas.
- Window cleaning
- Washing linens, mop heads, lost and found articles
- Event set up and break down
- Maintaining cleanliness in storage closets
- Restocking of paper and chemical supplies
- Maintain & clean cafeteria during & after lunch periods
- Respond to requests for clean up of spills, accidents, graffiti
- Ensuring parking lots and grounds remain free of debris and hazards
- Any other duties as assigned
Facilities Responsibilities
- Assist with preventative maintenance (replacing water filters, air filters, dusting down exterior of buildings, etc.)
- Grounds maintenance
- Painting
- Any other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- One year custodial experience in an educational facility
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Follow written and verbal instructions
- Effective communication skill
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Must be able to pass level 2 background screening

- Must maintain professional demeanor at all times
- Able to work with others as a team
- Must maintain an open mind to learning
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
- Stand for long periods of time
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
- Year round work
