The Jacksonville Jaguars are a professional football team and a member of the National Football League’s AFC South Division. The Jaguars are one of the NFL’s youngest franchises, playing their first regular season home game on Sept. 3, 1995, in Jacksonville, Fla., and have since won four division titles. Summary
The Jacksonville Jaguars are currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team. This position will assist with day-to-day accounting functions, which include but are not limited to: accounts receivables, cash posting, journal entries, transaction research, month-end close, fluctuation analysis and financial reporting. The ideal candidate must be reliable, have a keen eye for detail, exhibit a commitment to excellence, and be comfortable taking initiative.
Job Responsibilities
- Record monthly journal entries as part of the month-end close process, including revenue recognition, related-party transactions, and accruals
- Perform full cycle sponsorship or ticketing accounts receivable functions to include invoicing, payment research, and subledger to general ledger reconciliations
- Perform full cycle treasury functions to include credit card payments or wire requests, check deposits, and preparation of bank reconciliations
- Ensure that balance sheet accounts are accurately stated and reconciled to the general ledger. Research variances, determine root causes, and make adjusting entries when applicable
- Assist with year-end audit procedures including preparation of GAAP financial statements and NFL required reports
- Develop process automation to create efficiencies within the department and organizationally
- Assist with accounting related to Daily’s Place Amphitheater and/or Jacksonville Jaguars Foundation
- Ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Minimum 2 years of general ledger experience
- CPA or CPA candidate
- Ability to self-teach and learn new processes/technologies quickly
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, changing environment. Must work well under time constraints
- Positive and professional demeanor, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to interact effectively with a variety of team members in various departments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel
- Collaborate internally and with other departments
- Desire to continue professional learning
- Must display strong ethical conduct
Preferred
- Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
- Knowledge of automated accounting software: Microsoft Great Plains, Archtics, Salesforce, or Adaptive (Workday)
