COMPENSATION: $23.58-$25.63; Overtime (time and a half) after 48 hrs

We are looking for a Stage Operations Supervisor to join the Production Department and work closely with/report directly to the Director of Technical Production (DoTP). The Stage Operations Supervisor directs and manages the Production Department’s Stage Operations Team. They are responsible for the planning, preparation, and execution of all rigging, staging, scenery, and other stage technology in the Ted Shawn Theatre (TST), the Doris Duke Theatre (DDT), the Henry J. Leir Stage (HJL) as well as ancillary spaces across the campus. During the pre-season, they collaborate with the Production Managers and other Department Heads to advance all upcoming productions and events as well as participate in interviews for seasonal staff members. During the Festival they supervise the Stage Operations Technicians as well as supervise, manage, and train overhire audio crew members. They will work closely and collaboratively with the Production managers and the TST and DDT Stage Carpenters to ensure they have the information, equipment, training, and labor necessary to successfully support all activity in their assigned venues. The Stage Operations Supervisor will also train and mentor the Production Interns during their Stage Operations Supervisor rotation focusing on providing them a deeper knowledge of their position’s roles and responsibilities as well as the standard operating procedures of their department.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain a safe, healthy, and accessible work environment at all times.

Actively participate in communication with visiting companies to ensure clear communication about The Pillow’s facilities and equipment as well as to assess any additional equipment or labor that will be needed to execute each company’s vision.

Manage the preparation, installation, operation, and maintenance of all stage operations systems and equipment in the TST, DDT, and HJL.

Assist in the creation of seasonal and production-specific purchase and rental orders.
-
Act as the primary point of contact for all stage operations-related vendors working closely with the Production Administrator to facilitate purchase or rental deliveries, pick-ups, or shipments.

Act as the primary stage operations point of contact for all visiting companies during the pre-season.

Supervise, support, and train the Stage Operations Technicians.

Actively participate in the training and mentorship of the Production Intern Cohort including teaching hands-on and practical classes and workshops.

Advise the DoTP on any necessary improvements to The Pillow’s Stage Operations infrastructure and equipment.

Maintain departmental and production-specific budgets, paperwork, and schedules as needed.

Oversee the creation of any necessary paperwork.
-
Remain in constant communication with all Production Managers to ensure proper and necessary support for each production or event.

Assist the Production Administrator in the scheduling of Seasonal Production Staff, Interns, and overhire.

Actively participate in work calls, technical rehearsals, or performances as needed including by acting as run crew as needed.

Actively participate in the planning and execution of seasonal opening and closing of the Festival's performance spaces, studios, exhibition spaces, and temporary tents.

Support the installation of work into The Pillow’s exhibition spaces.

Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities, Safety, and Security and the DoTP design, construct, and install physical improvements to the campus’ theaters, studios, and other facilities.

Support and assist with the installation and operation of the Season Opening Gala and special events as needed.

Under the general direction of the DoTP, assist with the coordination of emergency response for staff and patrons in the event of an emergency or extreme weather,

Complete Adult/Child CPR, First Aid, and Cultural Competence Training (provided to all seasonal staff during the pre-season)

Assist other departments, including non-production departments, as needed.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
-
Minimum 4 years of related management experience for live performance.
-
Advanced knowledge of and the ability to instruct others on the installation and use of stage operations systems as well as departmental standard operating procedures.
-
Advanced knowledge of industry-standard theatrical rigging and scenery construction practices.
-
Valid driver’s license.
-
Experience driving trucks up to 26’
-
Proficiency with the Google App suite, Vectorworks and/or AutoCAD.
-
Knowledge of production-related health and safety best practices and ability to identify and correct potential hazards.
-
Proficiency with Google App suite, Vectorworks, and other industry standard applications.
-
Experience with budgeting and scheduling.
-
Ability to work proactively, creatively, flexibly, and collaboratively.

Willingness to learn.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION

Knowledge and experience working in dance production.

Experience working and/or teaching in a performing arts educational environment.

Experience with audio and video systems, equipment, and software.

Experience with advanced production technology such as augmented reality, virtual reality, or robotics.

Experience managing outdoor or non-conventional performance venues or productions.
