COMPENSATION: $18.45-$20.50 Overtime (time and a half) after 48 hrs
Room and board, free access to performances, classes, talks, studios
HOURS: May 20 - May 31, 2025: (5) Day work week averaging 40 hrs
June 2 - August 28, 2025: (6) Day work week averaging 50 hrs
Hours will vary during The Festival depending on weekly schedules and all efforts will be made to provide 48 hours a week.

The Jacob’s Pillow Production Department seeks a general technician to join its seasonal staff for the 2025 Summer Festival. The Stage Operations Technician reports to the Stage Operations Supervisor and works closely and collaboratively with them to support all activity during The Festival. During the pre-season they will assist the Stage Operations Supervisor and the Stage Carpenters to install stage operations equipment into the Ted Shawn Theatre (TST), Doris Duke Theatre (DDT), Henry J. Leir Stage (HJL), Perles Family Studio and all of the support spaces on campus. This equipment includes but is not limited to rigging, flooring, staging, seating and masking. While their focus will be on stage operations they will work on the crew with all production teams including lighting, wardrobe, audio and video. During the festival the Stage Operations Technician works with the Events PM in supporting the set-up and operation of special events and other on and off campus activity. They assist the Stage Operations Supervisor in the organization and daily maintenance of the campus’ stage operations infrastructure and equipment. This is an ideal position for an early career technician looking to expand their general knowledge base by getting hands-on training and experience in all aspects of dance production.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain a safe, healthy, and accessible work environment.

Actively participate in the opening and closing of all of the Festival's performance spaces, studios, exhibition spaces, and temporary tents.

Actively participate in all assigned work calls.
-
Assist in the installation of dance floors, soft goods, truss & chain motors, scenery as well as lighting & audio/video systems in the TST, DDT, HJL and their support spaces.

Participate in technical rehearsals and performances as a member of the TST, DDT or HJL run crew.

Assist in the set-up, break down and operation of the special events and campus activities.

Run audio, video or lighting consoles for special events, activities and pre-show talks as needed.

Provide support to Jacob’s Pillow Media Team in documenting performances, talks and events.

Assist in the creation and installation of decor or scenery for events.

Attend weekly all-staff and production staff meetings.

Completion of Adult/Child CPR, First Aid, and Cultural Competency Training (provided to all seasonal staff prior to Festival)

Assist other production departments as needed
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
-
Collegiate or professional experience as a stagehand or crew member.
-
Basic knowledge of general production standard operating procedures.
-
Basic knowledge of audio, video, lighting and stage systems and equipment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
-
Experience running lighting, audio or video consoles and equipment.
-
Knowledge and experience working in dance production.
-
Experience with wardrobe, lighting, audio or video systems, equipment, software and standard operating procedures.

Ability to read and interpret technical documents.

Experience working outdoors or in non-conventional performance venues or productions.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Working regularly in wooded areas with exposure to native wildlife including, but not limited to, rodents, ticks, and mosquitos.

Working regularly outdoors in all weather conditions including inclement weather.

Working a 6-day work week including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.

Moving equipment up to 50 lbs alone or with assistance.

Moving through and between multiple locations throughout the entire campus including over uneven terrain.

Remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time.

Working at heights above 6 feet and up to 30 feet.

Ascending and descending straight and step ladders.

Operating push around or drivable person lifts including at heights.

Working in show conditions with theatrical and atmospheric elements including but not limited to: fog, haze, strobes, dim lights, and loud sounds.
