The Permits Specialist located in Pompano Beach FL will assist the Permits Engineer by providing field oversight of permitted work activities, field review permit applications to identify site specific field conditions and perform QA/QC on permitted work. In this role, you will perform field reviews of site conditions as needed during the permitting and construction process with permittee, department, and other agency staff to assure compliance with FDOT standards and specifications. As the Permits Specialist, you will be required to perform QA/QC on Asset Maintenance (AM) permits administration and field Inspections in the Asset Maintenance Contract Zones. This position will also perform field reviews on MOT for permits with lane closures; perform field reviews on complex permit jobs; process new permits; prepare, file, and maintain correspondence for the Permits Office; and enter lane closures into Project Solve.

Work in the field for extended periods of time on a regular basis; work independently and make decisions; interpret engineering data and drawings; establish and maintain effective working relationships; plan and organize work.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
The physical and environmental demands required to perform the essential duties of this position include standing, walking, sitting, coordination, balance and agility demands, which may include the ability to stoop, kneel, squat, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements. Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
