Safety Director

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Site Safety Manager to oversee the safety and health programs for a dynamic and fluctuating field force, including carpenters, lathers, and tapers, across multiple jobsites in New York City area . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction safety, a proven track record of compliance, and the ability to enforce safety procedures effectively. The role involves overseeing and managing safety operations, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards, and continuously improving safety performance on all assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee occupational safety and health programs, policies, and practices for a fluctuating workforce across multiple jobsites.
• Develop, implement, and ensure adherence to safety procedures in line with general contractor requirements and legal regulations.
• Conduct regular site visits throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, & Queens, to conduct safety audits on personnel, equipment, materials, and site conditions.
• Develop and execute health and safety plans in compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) regulations.
• Ensure diligent compliance with OSHA, NYC DOB, and other relevant regulations, as well as company policies and safety practices.
• Engage with both employees and management to foster a safety-conscious culture.
• Assess risks associated with operational practices and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
• Provide safety training, presentations, and workshops to workers and management, focusing on accident prevention, safe practices, and hazard awareness.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, determining root causes, managing workers' compensation claims, and implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
• Track incident metrics, analyze trends, and apply findings to improve safety measures and reduce risk.
• Stay up to date with changing laws, policies, and safety regulations and communicate any updates to the team.
• Recommend new safety measures, policies, and tools to continuously improve safety performance across all jobsites.

Certifications/Qualifications:

• 40-Hour Site Safety Manager Course
• OSHA 511 – 30 Hour Certification
• Respiratory Protection Certification
• Incident Command System 100-200
• National Incident Management System 700
• SST Certified (Site Safety Training Certification)

Preferred Skills:

• Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations and practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging employees at all levels.
• Ability to manage multiple sites and ensure consistent safety performance across various teams.
• Proven track record of accident investigation and risk management.
