Machine Shop Foreman

JAG Alaska, Inc. Seward Shipyard is hiring a Machine Shop Foreman & Inside Machinist.

Periodic travel in Alaska will be required for this position.

Machine Shop Foreman & Inside Machinist

The ideal candidate will possess a diversified skill set in machine shop operations and have the ability to manage and lead a team effectively.

This role involves working in physically demanding marine and industrial environments.

About the Job

• Manage and supervise machine shop operations.
• Oversee and lead a team of Inside Machinists.
• Operate and maintain various machine shop equipment, including drill presses, shapers, lathes, milling machines, boring mills, planers, grinders, turret lathes, and more.
• Dismantle and erect machinery as needed.
• Perform precision machining and lay-out work.
• Adhere to safety protocols and ensure the team follows safety guidelines.
• Meet project deadlines and quality standards.
• Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure successful project completion.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Inside Machinist in a marine/industrial environment.
• Strong leadership and managerial skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including confined spaces, heights, and various environmental conditions.
• Capability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 100 pounds) and perform repetitive tasks.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National with a clean background for a minimum of 10 years.
• Ability to pass a 10-panel drug screen.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to different project locations as needed.
