We are looking for an Accountant to join our team in our Loveland, CO office. JFT offers some work from home flexibility, but in-office days are also required. The anticipated closing date for this posting is 3/31/25 and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
Function:
We are seeking an accountant to oversee the full spectrum of accounting functions, providing a comprehensive financial perspective of the company. As the sole accountant managing the daily operations of the company, this role is responsible for everything from accounts payable and receivable to financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis. As a key financial professional, you will play a vital role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic insights that drive business decisions. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys a broad, hands-on role with visibility into the entire company's financial landscape.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare, develop, and update financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
- Prepare month end journal entries, financial statements, and reporting.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and GL accounts.
- Generate weekly AP list and enter AP vouchers.
- Create accurate AR invoices according to contract terms and milestones, follow up with clients, and apply cash receipts.
- Review client contracts for accounting and tax requirements.
- File sales and use tax, and create accounts in new areas as needed.
- Set up projects in Deltek Costpoint.
- Assist project managers and leadership with cost analysis.
- Review all costs for allowability per government contract requirements, including an understanding indirect rate structure.
- Provide audit support.
- Provide back-up coverage for payroll processing.
- Train support staff and document accounting procedures.
- Review accounting processes for potential improvements.
- Other accounting duties as assigned.
Typical Working Conditions: Primarily an office environment with periodic exposure to the fabrication/machine shops. JFT has implemented a 9/80 work schedule, and the office is closed every other Friday.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to work on a computer (standing or sitting) for most of the day and operate standard office equipment. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with team members, customers, vendors and applicants is essential. May occasionally lift and carry items, typically under 25lbs.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in business or accounting preferred.
- Minimum of three years of accounting experience with a thorough understanding of accounting principles.
- Minimum of one year of accounting experience in an engineering design/build industry.
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint or similar ERP Deltek software preferred.
- Experience with government contract accounting and cost accounting is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Windows operating systems.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills are required.
- Ability to work with confidential information with discretion.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks is required.
- Must be able to work independently as well as collaborate with a team and other departments.
- This position requires the incumbent to work with export-controlled items.
