Job Description
The General Foreman manages the continuous improvement of the lines in a high-speed, high-volume manufacturing environment. This includes developing and implementing activities to meet safety, quality, and production design goals, in addition to cost objectives, and promoting a strong team atmosphere.
Daily updates on safety issues and training topics are provided to the crew. Hazards in the plant, both safety and environmental, are identified and corrected.
Holding individuals accountable for work area and general plant housekeeping is essential. Employees are recognized for exceptional performance in regards to safety, quality, production, and retention.
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, etc.) is preferred. Computer literacy in Excel spreadsheets, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Teams is required. Forklift certification/experience is a plus.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Providing daily updates on safety issues and training topics to the crew; identifying and correcting hazards in the plant, both safety and environmental; holding individuals accountable for work area and general plant housekeeping; recognizing employees for exceptional performance in regards to safety, quality, production, and retention;
Actively pursuing and correcting issues that negatively affect the quality of the board; ensuring all employees are properly trained on quality specifications and accurately using testing equipment;
Work with Maintenance and department Manager in planning and managing all downtime events on the crew, this would include but is not limited to, wash ups, product changeovers, size changeovers and unscheduled downtime;
Recruiting high-quality employees through interviews and offsite interactions; participating in performance evaluations on a bi-annual basis and ranking the employees;
Enforcing all company policies; documenting all coaching sessions; promoting training for employees and managing for Level 2 certifications in all positions;
Communicating daily on the issue of job performance, be fair, consistent and objective; praising in public and reprimanding in private.
