Summary
The McKeown Boys & Girls Club seeks a Childcare Director who will be responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising licensed childcare programs that currently include two afterschool programs for grades K-5 and a year-round, full-day preschool program. This individual is responsible for maintaining a positive, professional relationship with members, parents, staff, and the community. The Childcare Director oversees the development, organization, and implementation of all licensed childcare activities. They will manage day-to-day activities following established laws, policies, standards, and goals.
Program Development & Management
- Oversee the administrative functions of the childcare programs, including but not limited to registration, record keeping, purchasing, payroll, and billing
- Ensure proper implementation of all safety management policies
- Build and maintain relationships with partners, including parents, school personnel, and others, to ensure the healthy and educational development of each child
- Develop personal skills and competencies that will improve the programs by attending training seminars, webinars, networking opportunities, and certification courses
- Work with other members of the organization’s leadership to coordinate cross-program special events and initiatives throughout the year
- Prepare and submit program or grant reports as needed by the Executive Director
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Supervision & Support
- Supervise a staff of both full-time and part-time childcare teachers
- Schedule staff to ensure appropriate adult: child ratios are met
- Ensure positive youth experiences through supervision and support to teachers, including feedback, appraisal, evaluation, and recognition
- Provide professional development to childcare teachers, including both state-required pieces of training and locally developed opportunities
Marketing & Public Relations
- Develop recruitment and media relations materials for childcare programs
- Use all available media to promote the childcare programs
- Develop, maintain, and nurture positive professional relationships with parents, staff, volunteers, and community members
Education & Certification Requirements
- Bachelors Degree required
- CPR/AED/First Aid (American Red Cross) certified
- Massachusetts EEC Director II & Lead Preschool Teacher certified
- Clear background checks including CORI, National Sex Offender Registry, Fingerprint, and others as required by both the Boys & Girls Club and the MA Department of EEC
- As per state law, must be at least 21 years of age. Must have at least five years of experience working with children
SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- Understanding of the Massachusetts Department of Early Education & Care regulations
- Program development, implementation, and management skills
- Demonstrated ability to connect with staff, youth, and families
- Proven instructional and supervisory capabilities
- Experience in providing informal guidance to children and youth
- Maintain current knowledge of growth and development theory and youth trends/issues
- Ability to work and collaborate across program lines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows & Office Software
