HOURLY START AT $19We are seeking qualified and caring individuals interested in working with female children between the ages of 11-17 years old (up to 5 in the house) who have experienced abuse or neglect. Our goal is to provide an emergent and temporary, yet safe and stable environment.SCHEDULEThis is a 24 / 7 facility located in OLYMPIA, WAShift availability : Must work WEEKENDFull-time / part-time shifts availableHolidaysNight shift - generally 3pm-11pmOvernight Shifts- generally 11pm-7amAwake Overnight Requirement : Must stay awake and alert for the entire overnight shift.Job Types : Part-timeSalary : From $19.00 per hourQualifications : - High school diploma or GED-Must pass a background check- Experience with children- Willingness to learn Behavioral therapy skills- Patient with Child & families- Ability to work with people with developmental disabilities- Familiarity or ability to learn medical terminology- Strong patient care skills- Proficiency in documentation and records- Valid driver's license for transportation needsEducation : High school or equivalent or higherExperience : Age 21 , or 18-21 if enrolled in an internship with JMC or a related Bachelors program with supervision.Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.Transportation required : Must safely transport self and clients; proof of adequate vehicle insurance or ability to travel to areas without public transit.High school diploma / GED / HSEC required.Minimum 1 year of experience working with teens or young adults in fields like foster care, education, juvenile justice, mental health, or homelessness.Strong youth engagement and relationship-building skills.Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.Basic computer proficiency.First Aid and CPR certification, or complete within 30 days of hire.HIV / blood borne pathogens training, or complete within 30 days of hire.Adaptable, collaborative, and thrives in a team environment.High ownership and strong work ethic.Problem-solving skills and ability to think on your feet.Service-oriented with a passion for helping others.POSITION SUMMARYThe primary responsibilities of the Youth Direct Care aide are to supervise and support youth and to carry out the day-to-day operations of the JMC Kids Place and its program.POSITION DUTIES & TASKSPerform and document daily shift activities as required by program policies, contract stipulations and professional standards.Supervise and monitor youth, activity and rule compliance by maintaining auditory and visual line of sight.Assess and respond appropriately to youths behaviors, attitudes and dispositions.Conduct contraband control and confiscation procedures.Provide input and feedback related to resident programs, treatment and / or case plans.Facilitates events like meetings, therapeutic groups and other structured activities per director or on-site program managers direction.Complete intake and discharge procedures for all youth upon arrival and at exit.Conduct program orientations for newly arrived youth.Prepare informational and incident reports as necessary.Assist in and / or monitor the delivery, storage, preparation and service of meals.Oversee resident family visitations and assists volunteers and personnel from other agencies.Store, monitor and dispense youth medications following program policies and procedures.Transports youth to outside activities in accordance with program policies and contract stipulations.Assumes shift lead responsibilities in the absence of the on-site program manager.Conduct physical grounds and facility safety checks.Assess, evaluate and, if necessary, report internal and external facility conditions for safety, sanitation and security concerns.Ensure compliance with all health / hygiene, safety and maintenance requirements.Oversee youth schoolwork, chores and cleaning responsibilities.Additional responsibilities as assigned.OTHER ESSENTIAL SKILLSEngage in clear, consistent, and professional communication with all youth, program staff, service providers and community members.Model competency, good judgment, and self-control in the presence of children and when performing dutiesModel pro-social and appropriate behaviors and suggest alternatives to inappropriate or disruptive behaviors.Promote and model teamwork and collaboration with co-workers including orienting new staff, interns and volunteers.Attend scheduled staff meetings, program meetings as appropriate or upon request and complete required training.Ability to effectively de-escalate any conflict with youth as age and behaviorally appropriate.Willingness to participate in pre-service and ongoing trainingWORKING CONDITIONSWork is performed indoors and outdoors in a home setting. Exposure to hazards is limited to those commonly found in this environment.Physical Requirements : Must be able to visually inspect clients and rooms for contraband. Must be able to lift upwards of 25lbs, on occasion. Be able to sit or standcontinuously. Must be able to bend, squat, kneel, and reach out and above shoulders. o Must be able to go up and down stairs be able to provide a full array of service to include cooking, cleaning, behavior management, while maintaining line of sight during wake hours. Must be able to be awake and alert to meet clients needs during all shifts.Travel Requirements : Some travel is required, is typically local or regional, to attend or provide training. Employees may transport youth to outside activities and school and must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance if driving on company business.
