Position Description:

Full-time; Hours for this position will be 2:00-10:00 PM. Serves as an integral part of the Facilities team. The principal function of this position is to assist the Director of Facilities in the management of operational, financial and personnel activities relative to the maintenance and custodial operations on the JCC Jamestown Campus. Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance, repair, and custodial projects. Will be expected to respond to emergencies 24/7 unless alternate arrangements have been made.

Essential Functions:

Directs or performs the following essential functions:

  1. Responsible for oversight of all maintenance and custodial functions at the Jamestown Campus.
  2. Responsible for hiring, evaluating, training, scheduling, disciplining, and supervising maintenance and custodial personnel.
  3. Responsible for the assignment and supervision of overtime; monitoring and approving time records of all direct reports; monitoring quality/quantity of work performed by maintenance/custodial personnel.
  4. Communicates daily with staff members to establish an effective collaborative relationship with subordinates and fellow team members.
  5. Interacts with college administrators, faculty, and staff in resolving custodial/maintenance related issues.
  6. Works closely with Campus Safety and Security and Information Technology departments to ensure proper functioning of security and door access system.
  7. Provides management and oversight for special events when necessary.
  8. Maintains a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and operations for all Jamestown campus facilities. Adhere to all district health and safety policies.
  9. Takes the initiative to identify areas needing attention (repairs/replacement, etc.) and takes appropriate action to resolve.
  10. Establishes preventative maintenance and repair schedules for facilities.
  11. Determines equipment and supply needs and arranges for the services of outside contractors as needed in consultation with the Director of Facilities and team members.
  12. Keeps inventory of maintenance equipment and supplies.
  13. Obtains quotes and follows purchasing process.
  14. Inspects facilities for safety and appearance standards.
  15. Accompanies fire inspectors, and other regulatory agencies during inspections.
  16. Assists with ensuring compliance with rules and regulations of regulatory agencies including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, and NYS Fire Code.
  17. Assists in development of operating and capital budgets.
  18. Holds regularly scheduled meetings with direct reports to ensure active and ongoing communication.

Qualifications:

Required: Associate’s degree plus five (5) years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience to demonstrate ability to perform the job. Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience and a working knowledge of the rules of OSHA, EPA, NYS Fire Code, and other regulatory agencies.

Ability to effectively manage the facilities’ operations, communicate with immediate staff and others, and establish and maintain effective working relationships. Must be able to understand and apply laws, rules, and regulations; plan, prioritize, and coordinate multiple projects in a collaborative, team setting. Attention to detail and accuracy.

Experience in custodial operations. Working knowledge of construction, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. Must possess a commitment to providing excellent customer service, problem-solving, budget management, supervisory and organizational skills.

Valid and current driver’s license with driving record acceptable to college’s insurance carrier.

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree. Ability to report for campus emergencies or events within a 30-minute timeframe.

Additional Information:

Salary: $59,922 - $71,500/year. Excellent benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, and NYS retirement.
Final candidates are subject to a pre-employment criminal background investigation.
