Description
Jamestown Excavating is seeking a skilled and motivated Superintendent to lead on-site coordination for all phases of residential and commercial excavation projects. This crucial role ensures the timely and compliant completion of each project, adhering to plans, specifications, and local codes, while maintaining stringent quality control and job-site safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise all employees, subcontractors, consultants, and vendors on a daily basis.
- Conduct Weekly Safety meetings to promote a safe work environment.
- Monitor and track expiration and renewal of safety certifications (OSHA, CPR/First Aid, equipment training, etc.).
- Professionally manage customer interactions, address concerns promptly, solicit feedback, and ensure commitments are met.
- Develop and maintain project schedules for employees, subcontractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure timely project completion.
- Implement and enforce quality control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate communication within the project team regarding ASIs, RFIs, and Material Submittals.
- Verify that all employees and subcontractors adhere to the contracted scope of work.
- Coordinate and schedule necessary inspections with local authorities.
- Identify and report any non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Proactively identify and communicate project conflicts to the project team for effective resolution.
- Maintain a detailed written daily log of all job site activities.
- Manage Superintendent responsibilities across multiple job sites concurrently.
- Ensure all deficiencies identified by the project team are promptly corrected by employees and subcontractors.
- Conduct daily walk-throughs of all units to monitor progress and assist in future planning.
- Lead weekly team and project meetings to coordinate work effectively.
- Issue notices of non-compliance to employees and subcontractors regarding work quality or scheduling issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site at all times.
- Perform job progress tracking and manage the identification and completion of punch lists.
- Assist in the budgeting, bidding, and awarding of subcontracts.
- Support the process of obtaining permits or approval of revisions.
- Collect and maintain records of approved project material submittals at the job site.
- Coordinate homeowner unit specifications with marketing staff.
- Identify and report any work areas that fall outside of Jamestown Excavating’s contracted scope.
- Preside over pre-construction meetings involving customers, employees, and subcontractors.
- Manage the opening and securing of the job site daily.
- Assist in the hiring process for sub-tier employees.
- Adhere to all Jamestown Excavating (JKT) policies and procedures, including safety and work practice standards outlined in the Occupational Exposure Control Plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of three (3) years of verifiable experience in excavation projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of various construction trades and extensive experience in excavation work.
- Ability to travel to assigned job sites.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Successful completion of a criminal background investigation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven ability to direct and resolve issues for an excavation crew of 10 individuals and manage 10 subcontractors and vendors on a project.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to empower, coach, and influence team members towards achieving common goals.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to promptly address and resolve customer inquiries and feedback.
- Proficiency in understanding and interpreting blueprints.
- Demonstrated awareness of project timelines and cost budgeting.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suites.
- Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts, including algebra and geometry.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
- Effective time management, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
- American Indian/Alaska Native preferences apply.
