What are the responsibilities and job description for the Server position at JAMS Modern American?
Reports To: Front-of-House Manager / General Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Guest Service: Greet guests promptly, take food and beverage orders, providing detailed menu information, including daily specials and recommendations.
- Order Management: Accurately enter orders into the point-of-sale (POS) system and relay any special dietary needs, allergies or modifications to the kitchen.
- Delivery of Orders: Serve food and beverages to guests in a timely and professional manner, ensuring all items are correct and meet presentation standards.
- Customer Interaction: Engage with guests throughout their meal to ensure satisfaction, handle complaints or requests, and provide excellent customer service.
- Table Maintenance: Monitor and maintain assigned tables, including clearing plates, refilling drinks, and resetting tables for the next guests.
- Cleanliness: Ensure dining areas, service stations, and equipment are clean, organized, and well-stocked throughout the shift.
- Company Policies: Adhere to all company guidelines and policies as outlined in the employee handbook, including health standards, conduct, and safety procedures.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with side work, such as polishing silverware, folding napkins, and restocking service areas.
- Maintain superior attendance and punctuality.
- Wear a professional uniform and adhere to all grooming and dress code standards.
- Communicate any issues or needs to supervisors or managers.
- Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays are preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, carry trays of food and beverages, and lift up to 30 lbs.
- Work Environment: Fast-paced dining environment with moderate to high noise levels. Exposure to hot and cold food items as well as sharp objects.
- Skills: Strong communication and customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask efficiently in a high-pressure environment.
- Experience: Previous experience as a server or in a similar role is preferred, with a good understanding of food safety and customer service.
