Position Summary:

Janco Industries, Inc. is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Shipping and Receiving Coordinator to join our manufacturing team! The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of the shipping and receiving functions, ensuring efficient material flow, inventory control, and compliance with safety and quality standards. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments to meet on-time delivery expectations to our customers.

Essential Functions:

• Obtain and verify the accuracy of scheduled shipment information to ensure timely processing and  on-time delivery.
• Prepare and organize necessary documentation for all mail, freight, and ground shipments.
• Enter ground shipment details into the computer system accurately and in a timely manner.
• Retrieve appropriate inventory from Janco and Handy warehouses and stage it for shipment according to order specifications.
• Collect and record weights and measurements to determine the correct pallet sizes and packing methods to ensure safe transport.
• Affix accurate shipping labels to packed pallets, ensuring proper identification and shipping details are clearly marked.
• Inspect all products and contents to ensure they match the packing list and Bill of Lading, confirming the correct items and address information.
• Prepare and attach required customs documentation for international shipments in compliance with regulations.
• Ensure that shipments are safely and securely loaded into delivery and transport vehicles, following best practices.
• Use stretch wrap or metal banding to secure products to pallets, ensuring stability and safety during transit.
• Conduct daily preventive maintenance tasks, including fork truck inspections, recharging batteries, or replacing liquefied propane gas (LP) tanks as necessary.
• Receive all purchased components upon arrival, verifying the accuracy of shipments against corresponding paperwork.
• Communicate any discrepancies or issues with purchasing teams to facilitate resolution.
• Safely place received materials in their proper locations within the warehouse and update inventory records in the warehouse management software.
• Compare and verify outgoing shipment information such as counts, weights, and measurements against bills of lading, invoices, packing slips, and address labels.
• Maintain adequate inventory levels of packaging materials to support shipping operations.
• Interact with vendors and drivers in a professional and positive manner to ensure smooth operations.
• Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment to move products on and off delivery trucks safely.
• Adhere to established safety protocols and procedures at all times to ensure a safe working environment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area, following company cleanliness standards.
• Assist with other operational tasks as required to support warehouse and shipping functions.

Skills and Abilities:

Education:  High School Diploma

Experience:  Manufacturing and/or metal fabrication environment with experience in a warehouse or shipping role a plus.

Computer Skills: Proficient in using computers. Ability to quickly learn new systems and manage data efficiently. 

Certificates & Licenses: Forklift Operation Certification (can be acquired upon hire)
