POSITION SUMMARY

Jarrett Concrete Products & Supply Inc. is a leading manufacturer of high-quality precast concrete structures, serving a wide range of industries, including infrastructure, commercial, and industrial projects. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Design Technician/Estimator to join our team. This role is essential to ensure accurate project designs and cost estimates, helping drive our continued success in the industry.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Actively participates in continuous improvement activities in production and other aspects of the company.

· Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, polices, and priorities of the company.

· Communicate with customers, contractors, and suppliers to clarify project details and requirements.

· Assist in value engineering efforts to optimize project costs while maintaining quality.

· Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, building codes, and company quality control guidelines.

· Analyze project plans, specifications, and customer requirements to develop accurate cost estimates.

· Calculate material, labor, and transportation costs to prepare competitive bids and proposals.

· Collaborate with sales and production teams to ensure feasibility and cost-effectiveness of designs.

· Create detailed shop drawings and layouts for precast concrete products using AutoCAD, Stack-IT, Titan 3000.

· Work closely with project managers, engineers, and production teams to ensure designs meet specifications and manufacturing capabilities.

· Perform additional duties as requested.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS & ABILITIES

· Knowledge of JCP employee responsibilities, systems, and procedures

· Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbally.

· Must have the ability to identify complex problems, develop and evaluate options, then implement a solution.

· Must use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems.

· Must have good decision-making skills to be able to consider the relative cost and benefits of potential actions to decide the best one.

· Experience in precast concrete design, estimating, or related construction fields (preferred but not required)

· Proficiency in AutoCAD, Stack-IT, Titan 3000, or other drafting software.

· Strong understanding of precast concrete construction, blueprints, and project specifications.

· Experience with cost estimation, material takeoffs, and bid preparation is a plus.

· Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

· Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

· Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, twist, walk, must be able to use various hand tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance on elevated surfaces; and stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, or crawl. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Constant and continual medium to heavy manual, physical labor is required for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as work boots, hard hats, work gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection. This is an indoor/outdoor work environment: Exposure to sun, heat, humidity, cold, wind, light rain, sand, and dust.

Pay: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour
