Manual Mill Operator

Job Overview:

The Manual Mill Operator will be responsible for operating manual milling machines to produce precision metal parts and components according to detailed specifications. The operator will work with a variety of materials such as steel, aluminum, and other metals to create custom pieces for manufacturing processes. Attention to detail, ability to read blueprints, and skilled operation of the mill are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate manual milling machines to machine metal parts and components to precise measurements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate machining of parts.
• Adjust and calibrate milling machines, ensuring they are set to the correct dimensions and tolerances.
• Monitor the quality of work produced by inspecting parts with tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with machines, tools, and materials to minimize downtime.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to ensure optimal performance.
• Follow safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
• Maintain accurate records of work orders, production logs, and other relevant documentation.
• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and engineers to meet production goals and deadlines.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a manual mill operator or in a similar machining role.
• Strong understanding of machining techniques and manual milling equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Proficiency in measuring and inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality standards.
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Basic knowledge of shop math and geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to workplace safety and adhering to safety regulations.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or training in machining a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Capable of standing, bending, and moving for extended periods.
• Ability to work in a factory environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.

Working Conditions:

• Overtime may be required based on production demands.
• Regular exposure to factory equipment, machinery, and potential hazards.
