Job Summary:
The Manager of Network Services will lead a dynamic team responsible for the design, implementation, and management of our organizational network infrastructure, including Cisco-based LAN, WAN, and wireless technologies.
Ensures high network availability, security, and performance across multiple data centers, supporting critical, always-on health-grade applications, including Epic EMR.
Manages the operational budget related to network services, working closely with departmental leadership.
Leads, mentors, and develops the network services team, with a focus on organizational design and accountability using Leadership, Management, and Accountability (LMA) principles.
Job Responsibilities:
- Leads and manages a team of network engineers, providing mentorship and guidance to ensure professional development, operational excellence, and high team performance in line with LMA principles.
- Establishes clear roles and responsibilities for the network services team in alignment with accountability principles.
- Fosters a collaborative and performance-driven culture by applying LMA principles ensuring leadership, management, and accountability are consistently upheld.
- Engages in regular team development activities, including skills assessment, coaching, and career growth planning, to develop high-performing individuals.
- Ensures team members understand and meet their performance targets, with regular performance assessments and feedback to align contributions with broader business goals.
- Oversees the management, monitoring, and support of a large-scale, always-available network, consisting of Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, access points, and related security appliances, ensuring uptime for critical life safety and health system operations.
- Implements redesigned network architecture using Cisco ACI and DNA technologies, in close collaboration with the network architecture team.
- Ensures the security of network systems in compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and HITRUST, with a focus on safeguarding Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Acts as a technical expert and provides network domain expertise to cross-functional teams, including security, data center, and application teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Drives network performance optimization, capacity planning, and monitoring strategies to support low-latency, high-performance applications.
- Stays well informed of industry trends and advancements in networking technology, particularly Cisco and multi-cloud networking, to continuously enhance the network infrastructure.
- Collaborates closely with other IT leaders, business stakeholders, and external vendors to introduce new technologies and ensure continuous service improvement.
- Supports or integrates network infrastructure with critical healthcare applications.
- Develops and implements disaster recovery plans and business continuity strategies to ensure minimal downtime and quick recovery for critical network services in case of emergencies.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including LAN/WAN designs, equipment lists, and operational runbooks.
- Manages vendor relationships, including contracts, licensing, SLAs, and critical support escalations.
Skills:
Required Skills & Experience:
- Five (5) or more years of directly related work experience managing large, complex network infrastructures in multi-site environments with expertise in Cisco networking technologies is required including three (3) or more years in a formal or informal leadership role.
- Special Skills Required: Proven leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and inspire a team of engineers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to function effectively in high-pressure environments and manage conflicting priorities.
- Familiarity with agile frameworks, including sprint planning and task estimation.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to assess technical solutions and present them at a high level for business alignment.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HITRUST) and ensuring regulatory compliance in network operations, preferred.
- Experience working with cloud networking (AWS, Azure) and hybrid cloud environments, preferred.
- Vendor management experience, including contracts, licensing, and SLAs, preferred.
- Experience in agile project management methodologies, including sprint planning, epics, and task estimation, preferred.
Education:
Required Education:
Bachelor s Degree in relevant technology field (IT or Network Security) is required or equivalent acquired through combination of education and experience.
