Position Overview

The Associate Attorney – Pleading Review will play a critical role in reviewing pleadings, letters, and other legal documents to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and client regulations. You will be responsible for assessing whether there are sufficient grounds to proceed with legal action. Additionally, this position involves ensuring strict adherence to organizational protocols, goals, and values, while maintaining a focus on the highest standards of legal practice.

Key responsibilities may also include court appearances, file management, and negotiating settlements. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to contribute to the success of a well-established firm while advancing their own legal career.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review pleadings and complaints to ensure accuracy, including proper venue, party names, balances, statute of limitations, and supporting documentation.
  • Evaluate legal theories of recovery and ensure all pleadings comply with applicable laws.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, ensuring all content is accurate, complete, and timely.
  • Attend court hearings, when necessary, and represent the firm's interests.
  • Manage client files effectively, ensuring all documentation is properly maintained.
  • Support collections negotiations as required, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and firm policies.


The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for candidates who possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Proven experience in reviewing legal pleadings, including complaints and collections-related court documents.
  • Solid understanding of creditors’ rights, collections law, and applicable legal procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and capable of quickly learning new legal software and systems.


Education, Experience, & Licensure

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the State of Ohio.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Creditors’ Rights, Collections, or a related legal field preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
