What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aquarium Technician position at Jawz Aquarium?
Jawz Aquarium is retail/service business specializing in the care and sale of live tropical and marine animals for aquariums. We install, maintain and service aquariums around the country. Jawz offers a range of in-office/home service plans tailored to meet the specific needs of our service customers. Additionally, we assist our retail customers by providing expert knowledge on the set up, care and maintenance of their aquariums. Jawz strives to deliver the best quality service to meet our customers’ needs. We are currently seeking dedicated, motivated and eager individuals to join our team. We are willing to train the right individuals in this exciting and growing field. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities include:
· Travel utilizing the company vehicle to and from client locations to service aquariums.
· Inspect and check client equipment on each service visit to ensure proper functionality.
· Perform maintenance and troubleshooting customer equipment as needed.
· Make recommendations for periodic repairs, including upgrades and maintenance.
· Perform off site and in-store aquarium set ups; installation of RODI units, sumps, UV lights, filtration systems, etc.
· Service and maintain client ponds
· Make livestock recommendations based on species compatibility
· As needed, assist in retail store, by maintaining aquarium tanks, stocking supplies, acclimating livestock from wholesalers, feeding livestock, bagging fish and corals, cleaning tanks, preparing food, dosing, maintaining equipment, etc.
Qualifications:
- Valid drivers license
- Knowledge of Freshwater or Saltwater Aquariums
- Knowledge of Marine Biology a plus
- Diving certification a plus
- Must be able to lift heavy objects
- Good communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach to solving problems and addressing customer concerns
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
