Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating, particularly within the electrical sector. This role involves analyzing project specifications, preparing accurate cost estimates, and collaborating with project managers and clients to ensure successful project execution. The Estimator will play a crucial role in building competitive bids while maintaining quality and compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Review project plans and specifications to determine scope of work and required materials.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, focusing on electrical components.
- Utilize software tools such as Accubid for take-offs and quantity surveys.
- Conduct pre-bid project walk-throughs. Represent company in all communications with Owner, Architect, Building Engineer and Subcontractors during bid process.
- Collaborate with project management teams to develop budgets and timelines.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable terms.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials pricing, and best practices in construction estimating.
- Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant regulations.
- Flexibility and tolerance for constantly changing demands.
Qualifications
- 2-5 years electrical estimating experience. Additional field experience and project engineering is desirable.
- Proven experience in construction estimating with Accubid, specifically in electrical projects.
- Proficiency in using estimating software, including Accubid.
- Working knowledge of electrical theory and hands on electrical experience.
- Strong understanding of construction site operations and project management principles.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate pricing and budgeting.
- Ability to effectively negotiate contracts while maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex information clearly.
- Must have a good command of the English language, both written and verbal.
- A degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
- Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, document distribution, storage and records management.
